After a preliminary assessment of US safety regulators have received complaints about the front suspension coil spring break launched about 132008-10 Nissan Versa sedan.
Some of these car owners complained that cracks could cause a tire puncture or damage the brake pipe while driving, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said today.
"Preliminary analysis of complaints suggests that the coil spring failure occurs without warning and can occur at any speed," NHTSA said.
No deaths reported so far from the defect, NHTSA said.
Preliminary assessment is likely to lead to a recall, the first step in the process of determining if the regulator is defective.
Nissan North America did not immediately comment outside normal working hours.
