Chongqing Jinkang New Energy Automobile Co., Ltd (Jinkang New Energy) has completed its intelligent plant situated in Chongqing Liangjiang New Area, which will be put into trial operation this month, according to local media.
The plant will start the trial production of the Jinguo EV SF5 after the facility debugged, according to the plant's director. Besides, he also disclosed that the SF5 EV model will be available for pre-order staring from March next year and will formally go on sale in the third quarter of 2019. Currently, the EV model has been tested under extreme cold condition in New Zealand.
The director also said unlike the traditional vehicle plants, Jinkang New Energy's plant boasts an integration of digital technologies and intelligent system with its information management service enhanced by IoT (Internet of Things) and surveillance technologies. The new plant will have workshops for stamping, welding, painting and assembly as well as the specific room for battery pack and charging tests. Moreover, most procedures on the assembly line, such as welding, gumming and trimming, will be operated by over 800 robots.
Established in September 2012, Jinkang New Energy is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chongqing Sokon Industry Group Stock Co.,Ltd. In January last year, the company was approved by Chinese government to conduct an all-electric PV program with an annual capacity of 50,000 units, becoming China's eighth automaker that gets the certificate to independently manufacture NEVs.
