At the recent quarterly earnings conference call at Tesla, CEO Elon Musk unexpectedly revealed a heavy message that Model Y will build on a new platform that is completely different from Model 3. The new car will be used as Tesla second cross-border models available, will use the design of eagle door.
Masky pointed out that Model Y will be used and Model X similar wing door. Tesla's major changes are reflected in the ModelS from about 3 km of wire harness to Model 3 about 1.5 km of cable, to Model Y only 100 meters of the wiring harness, which also includes a redundant circuit. At the same time Model Y will also abandon the "outdated" 12-volt electrical system.
Tesla plans to launch the Model Y model by 2020, but Masci hopes to speed up its progress so that it will be available ahead of the end of 2019.
