Anhui-based automaker JAC Motors announced on May 17 that it has made a detailed statement and defense at a hearing held for the “emission fraud” case that perplexes the automaker recently.
The final opinions on disposition will be based on the notification offered by the Beijing Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau in the coming days, said the automaker.
Several days ago, local media outlets reported that JAC Motors had received a notice from the aforesaid agency who accused the company of distributing defective pollution control devices used for emission inspections.
In response to the report, the automaker stated on May 10 that the three vehicles involved in the random check are all trucks fitting the Beijing V Emission Standard. Measured by relevant statistics, there are a total of 700 vehicles in the selected model being sold on Beijing’s market, accounting for around 0.29% of its full-year truck sales in 2018.
The carmaker said in the latest announcement that it attached great importance to this case and seriously analyzed factors that triggered the problem under joint efforts with related engine producers. At the hearing, it delivered detailed statement and defense for its nonexistent act and motivation to manipulate the emission cover-up and the inconformity over administrative punishment conditions.
