Hyundai Motor Co. is trying to burnish its performance credentials and will unveil an “ultimate concept car” at next month’s Frankfurt auto show that expands on the company’s sporty N subbrand and showcases racing design.
Dubbed the Hyundai N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo, the concept vehicle will exhibit new technologies that foreshadow future possibilities for Hyundai’s N lineup, the company said.
The concept is a tie-in to Sony PlayStation’s Gran Turismo video game series. A digital version of the N 2025 Vision Gran Turismo will be added to the game and available for players.
Hyundai spokeswoman Angela Hwang said details on the actual concept car will be released later. The vehicle is a pure concept, not a preview of an eventual production car, she said.
Teaser photos of the car depicts a low-slung, Le Mans-style racer with a domed center-positioned driver’s cockpit.
From above, it makes an hourglass footprint with the body pinched slightly between protruding front and rear wheels.
L-shaped wrap-around headlights frame the front fascia.
Hyundai said its Frankfurt exhibit will center on its high performance N subbrand. The move underscores the manufacturer’s “dedication and investment to create striking and pioneering high performance cars,” Hyundai said in an Aug. 26 release.
The N line “signifies the pace of change within the brand, matching the company’s ambition to challenge perceptions by making real and emotional connections with customers,” it said.
Also in Frankfurt, Hyundai will unveil the New Generation i20 World Rally Championship car that it will race next season.
Hyundai’s engineers are prioritizing ride, handling, design and performance in a push to zest up a mass-market brand known for high quality, high tech, yet sometimes bland, cars.Hyundai Motor Co. is trying to burnish its performance credentials and will unveil an “ultimate concept car” at next month’s Frankfurt auto show that expands on the company’s sporty N subbrand and showcases racing design.
