On February 26, FAW-Volkswagen officially launched its third sub-brand dubbed “Jetta” in Wolfsburg, Germany.
Adopting an all-new logo, the new brand will reportedly be introduced into China this year and will be sold and produced by FAW-Volkswagen. Besides, it plans to roll out three new models in 2019, including one sedan and two SUV models. The first model is going to hit the market in the third quarter of the year. Based on the Volkswagen Group MQB platform, two SUV models will draw some inspiration from SEAT models and boast the upgrade in car-borne connectivity function.
Vehicles under the new brand will be manufactured at FAW-Volkswagen’s plant in Chengdu, capital of Sichuan Province, and is planned to target China’s market at early stage. Capacity for the new brand will reach up to 500,000 units on an annual basis. Moreover, a welding workshop specifically designed for Jetta-branded models started production at the end of 2018.
The automaker will build an independent marketing system for Jetta with its sales team enlarged to 200 people in the future from 100. In 2019, the new sub-brand is ready to have over 200 sales dealers nationwide and two showrooms in Beijing. Meanwhile, Jetta is allowed to use the after-sale service system with the joint venture's Volkswagen brand.
