Nexteer, TI Automotive plan new home office in suburban Detroit

Nexteer Automotive Corp. said locate its new headquarters north of Detroit in Auburn Hills, Mich., Next summer.

The move, announced Wednesday, is expected to relocate 150 employees especially management and build your visibility within the automotive supply chain.

The new location will house about 150 of the 5,000 employees Nexteer Michigan, including senior management, global financial team, human resources, information technology and sales staff, the company has said.

AVIC Automotive Systems Holding Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of China Aviation Industry Corp., has been a controlling shareholder of Nexteer from General Motors Corp. in 2010 sold the division that had taken over Delphi in 2009.

Auburn Hills homes either headquarters or the North American operations of 40 international companies from 32 countries and is home to two Fortune 500 companies - BorgWarner Inc. and the American subsidiary of Autoliv Inc.

Nexteer reports a workforce of over 12,000, more than 50 manufacturing customers and more than $ 400 milloin invested in Michigan since 2010.

Meanwhile, another automotive supplier headquartered in Auburn Hills, plans to move its corporate offices and technology center in a new building in the town, adding 97 jobs.

TI Automotive, which makes tank systems carrying fluids and fuels, plans to invest more than US $ 7 million to lease and build a new plant in suburban Detroit, Michigan Economic Development Corp. said Wednesday.
