BMW this year released a new electric car strategy iNext, plans to 2020 years ago, all models have launched the electric version, also announced in 2021 the first unmanned electric vehicles on the road. BMW's R & D center in Munich, Germany will be the starting point of the new plan.
BMW recently opened a new R & D center in Unterschleissheim, Germany, near Munich. The center will focus on developing vehicle networking and autopilot technology. Upon completion, the total number of employees will reach 2,000. "The pure autopilot is a great opportunity for the German automotive manufacturing base," said Klaus Fröhlich, a board member of the BMW Group responsible for R & D. Unmanned vehicle R & D and testing in Munich are a win-win for BMW and the entire region of Munich.
BMW's iNext program also includes innovative technologies such as holographic virtual displays, which will be released at the CES show next January. BMW is expected to begin testing unmanned vehicles in Munich next year.
Since 2013, the BMW Group's electric and plug-in hybrid cars total sales of more than 100,000, the target 2021 such models in the total sales accounted for more than 20%.
