Toyota Motor Corp. said today it will airbag inflators and Autoliv tests by Nippon Kayaku as possible alternatives to the potentially lethal parts supplied by Takata Corp.
Toyota said it wanted to make sure the parts were compatible with their vehicles before use.
Inflators "are not as stationery, which can be simply exchanged. We have to try them first and make sure they are safe," said a Toyota spokesman.
Swedish supplier Autoliv supplies injector nozzles and Honda Motor Co.

Autoliv spokesman could not be reached for comment, while a spokesman for Nippon Kayaku declined to comment.
